The power of daily writing

Mr. Eyaaz class 2013-2014

Salaam Alakum dear students

Mr. Eyaaz and I are trying to look for ways to help you improve your writing. This blog can help us all improve.

Writing is a skill that can be only learned through writing. If you want to learn to write in English you have to practice writing everyday. Do not be afraid of making mistakes. Just write. express yourself. the more you practice writing the more you will improve. I think one of the mistakes we make is we spend more time on studying English then we spend on practicing English.
Here are a few good ideas to get you started with writing.

1- Free writing:
Write everyday for five minutes non-stop. Do not worry about anything. Write about anything it does not matter. Do not worry about grammar or spelling or style. The purpose of this exercise it to write without thinking . After you finish the exercise you can through the paper away. Just write do not think about whether its right or wrong, whether its good or bad, just write. Write, write and write non-stop for five minute. The goal of this exercise is writing without looking back on what you have written. It does not matter. Just write and do not think about what you have written. This is not a grammar or spelling exercise. It is a free writing exercise.

2- Keep a daily journal:
Keeping a daily journal is a very useful tool to develop your writing skills. At the end of each school day write one paragraph on what you have felt, and what you have learned.
It is useful at the  top of each entry that you write the date.
How did you feel today?
What did you learn today?
What did you have difficulty with?

3- Read and write:
Read something for five minutes and then stop, and then  write about what you have just read. Write one to two paragraphs. This exercise will help you develop your writing muscles. Make sure you find interesting and right to your level reading material.

4- Start a blog:
starting a blog could be fun and exciting. Keep it private and only your teacher and classroom friends can see it. at the end of the course you can delete it, or improve on it. Blogging is a useful tool for learning and sharing.

Remember,The more you write, the more you feel like writing.
